Indoor Environment
The indoor environment at Bracknell nursery and preschool is outstanding. The nursery is equipped and resourced to the highest standards in every room. The nursery is decorated in neutral shades throughout, promoting calmness and tranquillity in the spaces, rather than overloading the children’s senses with abundances of bright colours. The nursery is furnished with beechwood items – all Early Years specific.
Some of our highlight features are: our Community Playthings Nursery Gym in the Toddler Room, our curiosity materials in the Preschool Room and our large indoor climbing frame.
The Community Playthings Nursery Gym is a firm favourite with our toddlers. It encourages them to explore and develop many skills, including physical ones, and they love playing on there with their friends.
Our Preschool Room staff have collected many objects for the children to explore. These curiosity materials have enabled the children to become even more creative and imaginative in their play as they use these objects to support their ideas. We teach the children how to handle these items with care and we enjoy exploring them together.
Our large indoor climbing frame is a wonderful addition to our indoor environment. It really challenges and supports the children’s developing physical skills. Monkey bars, steps and slides can be added to this fantastic piece of equipment so we can increase the level of challenge for the children who are ready for that. It also makes amazing dens and the children have enjoyed making it into both a fire engine and a pirate ship!
Outdoor Environment
Our outdoor environment is equally special. It features open lawns which allow the children the space and freedom to move and play fully, as well as giving us the space to hold outdoor activities such as ‘storytime’ when the weather allows. We have a large sandpit, dens and cosy areas, big climbing equipment, a Sensory Garden, a Mud Kitchen and a Growing Patch. We use all of these to give the children a varied and exciting outdoor life. As well as play on the open lawns and climbing equipment, they love getting stuck into the mud and sandpit. The Sensory Garden is great at stimulating all their senses, the dens and cosy areas allow rest and relaxation time in the fresh air, and the growing patch holds many valuable lessons and experiences. The garden as a whole is blessed with trees, which provide shade and beauty as well as enhancing children’s connection to nature.
One of our favourite elements in our outdoor environment is our Forest and Nature Trail. This offers pathways and areas for children to explore, create and play in the small wooded area attached to the garden. There’s an area for stories and to dance and children enjoy looking for bugs and insects, making potions and mud pies, and use sticks in a thousand different ways (magic wands, swords, a horse etc).
